Relaxing Retreat for Two - Fantastic Experience!
At the end of January, my boyfriend and I escaped to the Quamichan Inn for a relaxing weekend away. We arrived later in the evening on Friday to find the most welcoming and cozy Inn. It was just like the pictures on the website, and more lovely than I could have imagined, the feeling when you stepped inside the front lobby was like coming home. Both the owner, and a waitress greeted us with laughter and smiles.
We were quickly shown our room, the lovely Quamichan Suite. I marveled at how the old architecture mixed with modern light fixtures, new paint colors and new furniture. The color scheme was one I had envisioned for my own master suite at home. There was a lovely sitting area, two bathrooms, and a separate bedroom. You'd think because our room was above the dining room, that we'd be able to hear the noises from the restaurant below, but that was hardly the case.
We enjoyed our evening snuggled up in our suite, watched a movie and had one of the most restful nights sleep in weeks. In fact we over slept, missed breakfast, and was nearly late to our arranged luncheon at our friends home nearby!
The rest of the weekend went by all too quickly, our adventure with friends kept us from the Inn for most of Saturday, but we returned after supper and a hockey game to find the restaurant busy with laughter and guests enjoying the last bit of their dining experience. My boyfriend and I retreated to our private suite until morning.
The morning brought us the most amazing breakfast experience I have ever had. We sat in a private dining space, with gorgeous windows over looking the garden. Even though it was January, we could daydream about what the outdoor space would look like come spring, and planned our return visit. “How pretty a wedding would look outside on the patio” my boyfriend commented. Yes, he said that. Really He’s a softie We both had Laura’s Benny – and enjoyed every bite thoroughly. I’m not a huge fan of eggs – but this dish changed my mind!
After breakfast we had to pack up and head for home – but we both can’t wait to go back!
Thank you to Colleen and her fantastic staff! What a fantastic retreat you have created at the Quamichan!
